Sometimes You Have Got To Judge A Book By Its Cover! Poem by Denis Martindale

Sometimes You Have Got To Judge A Book By Its Cover!

One Bible showed the Easter scene,
Of Jesus Christ, the Nazarene,
Three crosses raised, there, in between,
To face His death, both sad and mean.
The Bible cover kept me still,
To think God's Son once climbed that hill,
Despite the fact more blood must spill,
In service to His Father's will.
Three hours long, God's Son held tight,
Until the light turned dark as night!
As though God hid that awful sight
While Jesus stayed to set things right!

Behold the Lamb of God who died
That very day when crucified
When Blood and Water from His side
Explained why Mother Mary cried.
Disciple John stood next to her,
Observing all that must occur,
And though his blood began to stir,
What happened next seemed like a blur.
The men who gambled for Christ's gown
Had made Him wear a wooden crown,
Until God's Son got taken down
And laid to rest outside of town.

But mark this well! God had a plan!
A plan before the world began!
To resurrect the Son of Man,
To do what only true love can.
And so, the Easter truths get told
Through Bibles worth much more than gold!
To help believers to stay bold,
Whether they are young or old.
Amazing grace still gets conferred!
Take heart, dear readers, with faith stirred!
God's miracles have re-occurred,
When Christ's disciples read God's Word!
