Away in a manger, in Bethlehem town,
A baby boy is born, a birth of renown;
The star of Bethlehem brought Magi kings three,
To worship the new King, and give him gifts free.
The angels gave tidings to shepherds first near,
Who rushed to the place where the king was born dear.
Blest fruit of a Virgin, in swaddled clothes lay,
With cattle all around, on bed of just hay.
A choir of angels sing, heaven filled with joy;
Fit for a crown, scepter, is Mary's babe-boy.
As Word of God turned flesh, His love for man's born,
Emmanuel is his name, on this glorious morn.
