Song Of A Maid Yearning For Krishna By Saint Dnyaneshwar

Song of a Maid yearning for Krishna - ‘'Virani'' by Saint Dnyaneshwar -13th century
-my attempt to translate lyrically.

Full of rains the clouds are ringing
In the woods breeze is singing
O dear! speed up for bringing
That Salvation-Giver Krishna here..

Oh this moon and moonlight
Champak, sandal, fragrant night
Nothing to me without the sight
of that Beloved Son of Devki..

No use of sandalwood blouse
Adds to my agony, doesn't douse
Go fast and bring to my house
that Darling of forest, Krishna..

Cool and soft this flower-bed
Delicate and so lovingly laid
Burns me like fire O dear maid
go fast and pour water on it.

Such sweet songs you sing
O cuckoo, tell me the meaning
You kind harbinger of spring
bring for me some good news

In the mirror if I happen to gaze
I do not see my face these days
Rukmini's husband does know ways
to madden me thus completely..

Translation- Bharati..
