Song tapestry -
the most delicate of threads,
the rarest fragrance of a golden dynasty.
A scholar king,
master calligrapher beneath lantern light,
while wine flowed like streams through carved vessels
bearing the finest lines ever written.
An age of poems, songs, and silk-string music,
even as invaders gathered quietly beyond the frontier shadows.
How vast the lament
of the Middle Kingdom's fading splendour,
its final war-cries swallowed
beneath the depths of the sea.
