Sonnet 06 Poem by John Florio

Sonnet 06

I was really longing for that clime,
Surely it came, but like an accident;
I had tried to hold it for my lifetime,
But it didn't stay even for a moment.
Having a glimpse of its rare beauty,
My eyes were filled with all dreams;
I extended my dreams in perpetuity,
Unaware of those short-lived gleams.
Darkness engulfs me growing deep,
Even my shadow is lost, I'm all alone,
My heart is aching, how can I sleep?
A mass of tears in my eyes has flown.

Was it like trying to hold a flying bird,
Or it's a song that no one ever heard.
