Sonnet Poem by Theresa Haffner

Sonnet

Rating: 5.0

There is a deeper meaning to be found
Within a poem not defined by words
For it’s not the meaning but the sound
That speaks unspoken to be heard.

For there is a deeper level still
Than the interpretation by the mind.
A deeper silence that cannot be filled
By phrases turned with artifice of rhyme.

Like a river hidden from the sight
The truth remains submerged and unknown
Confused and obfuscated by the mind
Communicating clearly, soul to soul.

For are we not ships passing in the night,
Enclosed in darkness, emanating light?
