Sonnet: Atlantis, June 2007 Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Atlantis, June 2007

Thank God, the Atlantis is back on earth,
With seven astronauts, all safe from space!
The touch-down though delayed did cause much mirth,
As space-shuttle glided on an air-base.

But what a feat, a woman had set up!
Sunitha Williams is a famous name;
One ninety five days in space-station, Yep!
Her new record has given her great fame!

Not only NASA but Indians are proud!
What stamina and nerves of steel, she had!
Her near and dear ones must have prayed aloud;
They made it though the weather was quite bad.

Their success is a feather in their caps;
’Tis time to slumber well and not take naps!

(Fondly dedicated to dear Sunitha Williams/6-23-2007)
