Sonnet: Become … Poem by Dr John Celes

Become a mammoth tree, verdure always,
With widespread roots that anchor it in soil,
And blossoms, fruits many-fold all earth days,
And wind cannot uproot nor sun, rain, spoil!

Become a mountain that man can't efface
With ease, despite all modern engineering skills,
But stays majestically on earth's face -
An example of God's creative mills!

Become a human being, god-fearing,
And righteous in the face of every threat,
Always daring to do good, god-abiding -
A rock that stands forever, dry or wet!

Become a person who loves neighbours, God,
Inert to sins, and turn greatest with Lord!
