Sonnet: Darkness Amidst Light Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Darkness Amidst Light

Rating: 3.0

When black clouds fill the sky, preventing light,
And darkness shrouds to mask all hope in life;
When day has darkened suddenly like night,
And normal life is thrown off gear by strife;

When Christmas joy is changed by newer grief,
And old year’s peace is threatened by new wars;
When common man gets no longer relief,
As corruption sky-rockets to the stars;

When terror acts disturb a tranquil state,
And Nature’s furies strike havoc on earth;
When unexpected verdicts change one’s fate,
And leaders good and wise appear a dearth;

The victims’ pleas and cries go to the Lord:
A better world is ushered in by God!
