Sonnet For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Poem by Danny Draper

Sonnet For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

What is post traumatic stress disorder?
We did not evolve to deal with carnage
Loss of loved ones, and disasters outage,
Most will cope inside sanity's border,
But modern war spreads destruction broader.
Senses reel from concentrated rage
Shock kept raw, infects vigour like a 'phage,
Recurring strikes, treacherous the boarder.
Devices exponential drive order,
Humanity's mass oft swept by nature,
Service and mishaps embed griefs tincture
Exposure rates expiate for slaughter.
Rationale and compassion can't resolve,
Dark, scars and guilt, no kindness can absolve.
