Sonnet For Secular Existence Poem by Danny Draper

Sonnet For Secular Existence

I will think of you, but won't pray for you
Wandering through my moments till you go,
I am here for you, and can help you too
Here and now of flesh and blood as you know.
You may dream of an idyll promised land
Requesting interventions most divine,
But always greatest help is brought by hand
Temporal in the now we all entwine.
Hope lingers for sacred fantastical
A family for strangers in that hall,
Yet, a few true friends isn't whimsical
Care with no need for agenda at all.
You are in my thoughts and being there, are
As safe from hopes and fears as anywhere.
