Sonnet: Free Me Lord From The Devil Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Free Me Lord From The Devil

Rating: 0.5

Emancipate me Lord from the Tempter,
And free me from the clutches of Satan;
And free me wholly from his one fetter,
Called mortal sin- bond with the Evil One.

And when ’tis done, I’ll be like bird afree,
To fly about so happily to Thee;
And build my nest to live in Thine Grace-tree!
Engaged forever in Eternity.

Whereafter, there is no captivity;
My soul can sing aloud in melody;
My wings can fly up high in amity,
Shaking my head as per thy rhapsody.

Free me O Lord, before my wings get lost,
And make my soul all pure at any cost.
