Sonnet: Heaven Is Our Aim Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Heaven Is Our Aim

When laundered is money in many ways,
Should not poor people get a better crumb?
When wasted are much things on many days,
Should denied be the blind and deaf and dumb?

Man’s happiness centers in sharing things
With fellow men, born unlucky on earth;
You set limits for contentment, earthlings,
And love, make peace with your neighbors ’fore death.

The love of God for man created earth;
The love of God for man gave him a soul;
The love of God for man gave him his breath;
The love of God gave him a special role.

Alas! Man forgets God despite all this,
Lives unprepared for his Eternal bliss.
