Sonnet: Let Me Keep My Path Aright Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Let Me Keep My Path Aright

Why things appear to happen in these ways?
God only knows for ’tis a mystery!
With anguished heart, I yearn for better days;
But men refuse to learn from past history!

The more I try to keep away from men,
Who try to poke their nose into my work,
God gives me wisdom and the needed ken;
Their interference makes me less berserk.

The friends I had are no longer with me;
But I remain the same despite the change;
My one friend is like my enemy!
This change for worse is to me rather strange.

But I must keep my righteous till I,
Complete my task and one day die!
