Sonnet-Life Poem by MTHOKOZISI NTOKOZO MAPHUMULO

Sonnet-Life

(SONNET)

Life

You are the king -
You wear the clock
What is it you are hiding
under the oak?

Who is that lady aflame
on the stair?
Who is to blame?
Who goes there?

Don’t hide the dagger,
Don’t hide the clock.
Your room is a desert.
You are dying alone.

The weather will wither
You dry as a bone.

Who else live by himself?
Because even life has no life
The soul can just live the soul without any referencing
I know today is your hardest day
Don't blame somebody
The problem is the soul
this soul has no relationship between our wishes, plans and time
It time has no watch

Death you are the most stupid thing I have ever met
You kill the room in which you live
Choosing to go and live alone in the desert
Life you are coward among cowards
You choose to run away from the universe at large
Because you are running away from troubles
Life you must be mad
Madness determines you
You are not a king
A king does not retreat in war
But a king fight forward forever for his empire
You truly absence from our vision is truly indication that you are coward
Body skeleton
Sleep softly in this cold soil
Get stuck behind these parasite mites
You have played a significant role in this world
Yours truly, voices and smiles shall always be remembered
We are on your side even if you are not on our side
Let thank our Lord Jesus Christ
For playing such a significant role
A role to take and protect his spirit before it is exposed to monsters
Good bye our lover
Good bye our friend
You have been the one: for us
Know that you truly visual body played a crucial role in our community
You have left a biggest gap in this universe
Go to the grave and retreat
Let those mites who consume your body know that you were a stone concrete metal
Let them be informed about your history
So that they may come one day
And stop to be silent as they to be
And tell as that, they have witnessed the difference between the Flesh of a Hero and the Flesh of a cowa

Mthokozisi, this is a deep and energetic poem, grappling with life and death and hope and fear. It is well written and carries emotion in a beautiful way. Congratulations. I wouldn't call it a 'sonnet' though.
