Sonnet: Man’s War With The Devil Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Man’s War With The Devil

What stars and planets, galaxies exist!
And yet, they work in perfect harmony;
Man cannot create one thing in this list;
He tries to reach the stars with ‘big money’!

All earthly creatures obey God’s wishes;
Man has been given freedom to do things;
Man controls birds and beasts and all fishes;
Most woes and strife upon himself, he brings.

The devil is his only foe on earth;
The Tempter lies to man and makes him sin;
Sinfully man remains ev’r since his birth;
The war with devil, God wants man to win.

Alone, no man can win this war at all;
God raises him, each time he has a fall.
