Sonnet: Men Today Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Men Today

Rating: 5.0

I rarely see a person speak the truth;
I barely know a soul who keeps promise;
I surely hate a man whose tongue is smooth;
I nearly got in trouble with a kiss.

How lovely ’tis to see children at play!
How truly love can blind the eyes that meet!
How duly rises sun at dawn of day!
How poorly earthlings care for one’s own feet!

The world is shrinking though it looks so vast;
The heart of man has turned so cold these days;
The righteous ones are vanishing so fast;
The mind of man has turned crazy in ways.

The modern man is foolish and unwise;
He’s money-mad and lives in sin and vice!
