Sonnet: Most Precious Things Are Seldom Found! Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Most Precious Things Are Seldom Found!

Rating: 5.0

A large and ripen fruit stays hidden in
The foliage dense, unseen by men and birds;
A fattened calf is safe in flock within,
And grazes meadows with the moving herds!

A lovely rose is camouflaged by more,
Escaping hands that crush it in sheer play!
Some precious gold comes from few tons of ore,
Requiring labor, and demanding pay!

An orchid lies within the deep forest,
Away from searching eyes of man and beast;
A diver plunges deep in sea for best
Pearl worn by richest ladies in a feast!

A saintly soul is rare a find on earth,
Where virtue of piety is a dearth!
