Sonnet: Power Of Words Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Power Of Words

You cannot paint all that you see on earth;
You can't describe by words, a painting, apt;
You cannot paint a poem that has birth;
Both painter, wordsmith need attention rapt.

Some words can serve as lethal weaponry;
Some words can cause more invisible wounds;
Some words have magic like wand of a fairy;
Some words can heal the hearts and minds by sounds.

Much careless words can trigger off a war;
Most careful words help dialogs succeed;
Each word in dictionary is like a star;
Mere words can't make the stormy waves recede!

Much blood has spilled over the word called ‘God';
Yet, words all come from mouth - a thing so odd!
