Sonnet: The Place For Hermits Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: The Place For Hermits

Rating: 4.5

Why hermits choose to live alone so high?
Why saints choose forests for building their huts?
By keeping off cities, crowds bring God nigh;
Such decisions require real guts.

In solitude, one realizes God;
In silence, Nature’s beauty is felt more;
The mountain-tops, clouds look like God’s abode;
The wild berries and streams form main food-store.

And time ticks slowly while the air is clean;
An ideal place for meditations oft;
The flora, fauna form a splendid scene;
The voice of Mother Nature is heard soft.

Such environs help saints do yogic feats;
To control breathing, mind and all heart beats.
