Sonnet: The Trick And Trade Of An Administrator Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: The Trick And Trade Of An Administrator

To join the band elite of ones with pow'r
Is luck that smiles only upon a few;
Your friends turn foes and you cannot be lover,
And loved nor love but learn to anger spew.

You dance in step as per your bosses' tunes;
You meet the targets fixed in scheduled time;
You cannot hide the works undone like dunes;
They want your life exemplary, sublime!

You are the buffer for the employees;
You have to satisfy the management;
The pow'r enjoyed upsets your mental peace;
Much better seems the beggar on pavement!

A shepherd leads the flock to meadows green;
Most sheep obey but some can be so mean!
