Sonnet- The World Is Still Uncivilized Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet- The World Is Still Uncivilized

Jumps a woman, in her husband’s pyre!
People called it the practice of ‘sati’;
When women are doused alive, set afire
What is the stage of today’s society?

In orgies and arson, the world today,
Takes away the lives of more innocents;
And emotions high, leads to violence;
So treacherous life seems each day, some way.

And men are killed in cold-blood in daylight;
This world does not seem civilized as yet;
Where is our liberty and human rights?
Man behaves worse than animals, I bet.

Can we remove these evils in some way?
Lord, show us in future, a better day
