Sonnet: This World Of Ignominy Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: This World Of Ignominy

The world I knew in childhood years was good
For, innocent was I with wisdom less;
With growing years, I learnt to turn quite shrewd,
And learnt to say ‘yes' and ‘no' with firmness.

The world I saw in life adult was bad,
With people crazy, lying all the time;
Their pride and jealousy could turn one mad,
With some ready to steal even a dime!

The world I see in senescence is worse,
With elderly deprived of love and care;
The selfish youngsters could invite a curse,
When not willing their time with them to share.

The life I led was meaningless almost,
With soul in sinfulness within its host.
