Sonnet: Will Common-Sense Never Prevail? Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Will Common-Sense Never Prevail?

Some countries send their rockets into space
To probe the planets near-by to the earth;
What colossal waste of sums in this race,
While basic wants of humans stay a dearth!

Who cares about the unborn babes, human?
Who feels for children begging in the streets?
Who's sorry for the handicapped person?
So many corpses can't afford pall-sheets!

A few are billionaires who don't pay tax!
The middle class is poorer day by day;
The laws allow the ‘bigger fishes' lax;
Each year, the salaried are taxed some way!

The netas spend their lives in luxury;
The common man's immersed in much worry!
