A Hug From Heaven
​Almighty God, in His garden so fair,
Has placed you forever in His holy care.
Though your presence has faded away from our home,
Your soul, free from pain, has found heaven to roam.
​I feel you near me, Papa, a breath on the breeze,
I hear your soft voice through the leaves of the trees.
I reach out to touch you, and though you're above,
I feel I am wrapped in your blankets of love.
​You rest in the stars, in the galaxy's light,
Watching over my head through the depth of the night.
The world is but shifting and sinking of sand,
And I need the strength of your steadying hand.
​I look to the kitchen, to your usual chair,
Expecting to see you still sitting right there.
I miss the small moments, the sauce for the day,
The simple 'being there' in your own quiet way.
​Your memory's the compass I keep in my chest,
To guide me through life till I join in your rest.
I'm standing alone, but I'm saying a prayer:
