Sources Of Inspiration Poem by Fathima Usman

Sources Of Inspiration

A little old wooden cottage inspires
As much as a shiny palace,
A single flower does the same
As a sophisticated patterned garden,
A leaf is enough when
There isn't any tree;
For grandeur ought not to be sought
In nature and the surroundings,
But in the mind.
Beauty is found only
When the mind is beautiful.
Inspiration, the tool of creation
Shapes itself in the soul,
And not in the surroundings.
The cloud and the sky are the same
For he who unites himself
And feels the presence;
The same presence in a leaf
And an ordinary tree.
The source of inspiration is the mind
That pictures a cottage into a mansion.
Therefore, inspiration need not be sought.
It is always there in us,
The trick is not to see how nature
Or someone else inspires us,
But rather how
We inspire ourselves.
