Spade Poem by Justin Gildow

Spade

Dirt and grime cake the environment
As I take a look all around
I don't know what's around the corner
Or what's waiting to send shivers down my spine
Or what I turn my back to

With a spade in my hands
I'm not ready to surrender
I'm ready to fight
I'm ready to face black nights of thunder
To find another light
To find you
And what will heal my life

Your name is on my spade
On the handle
I'm sure your heart is suffering
Because I'm not beside you

Everything's going to stop
Everything's going to slow down
And it's going to be alright
For as I know
You've got a lonely heart
At least for the time being
But worry not beloved
Have no fear sweetheart
The world may be sleeping
But I'm still making my way to you
With my spade with your name on it
I'll find you one of these nights
