Speaker Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Speaker

She was on radio
Spoke well, rich in words,
"Semitic and anti, "
Was topic of her talk.

Talk was of "The Nazis
Screened us by name
To plant seed of hate! "

Felt spark in my guts!

"Everywhere in the world
Are people who hate us! "
She said and with it I
Flew, fast, to Dubai
And the changes in laws:
"Penalise harassers! "

I sat back for good laugh,
Pictured Sheikh Mohammad
With his wife and daughters
Harassed and prisoners
And he is the ruler…?

Talk is cheap and sweet
The tellers say, insist:
"Do as say, not as did! "

People who shout: "Fire, "
Being Jew or Muslim,
Or Pagan, Christian,
Need to look at themselves,
Not comment but question:
"Why others disliked us? "

Love to build factory,
Make mirrors, give free:
"Please hang it on wall,
Patiently hold your tongue,
Act as jury and judge,
If honest, peace arrives."
