Specialization Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Specialization

Specialization

Why is it Tuesday?
Why not call Jim, Nassy?

Why month March; not Timmins, Everest?
We’re monkeys and parrots, we copy.

I love the Chaplin’s film; wrench in hand
Conveyer with parts come; tightens bolts.

It’s hateful hearing: “We, we…we…”
Regardless, selfishly or humble.

“DNA, we have found.” Is claimed; it is dumb.
Introvert in my shell; have to hide.

“Leave me out.” I call out.
In my eyes is anger; it sparks, strikes.

“Fracking for petro, polymer’s DNA; to compile.
I thunder and fly; Persian Gulf.

Empty of natural habitats
Oil tankers, navy ships; speed boats smuggle.

Whale’s absent; there is no carpenter
“DNA, DNa, Dna, dna…” I hear.

“We had fish, we had pears; sweat were springs” list goes on:
“Peace is gone, love left us, ‘open door let guest in’ died in heart.”
“Plenty war mongers, dealers in LPG and PE low or high, plastics’ chemicals”

The base of polymers is brain, flesh, vein…
“Wish you best aggressors; to become polymer.”

I pray, I pray, I pray.
Brains of Kremlin to White-House and Riyadh to Tehran.
And Dubai to London; and Peking, all leaders, India,
With experts, expertise, specialized, professionals
I hope that you become oil; total.
Be buried by comets, earthquake
Be squeezed in rubble, under sands, in the rocks then fracked.
