Spectacles Of Illusion And Deceit Poem by DM W

Spectacles Of Illusion And Deceit

Spectacles of illusion and deceit:
Crystal lights embellish bloodless parades.
These old, uniformed absurdities still
Thrive and prosper in the digital age.
Subvert all arbitrary centres of
Corporate power! Always deconstruct
Decadent images, symbols and signs;
That endlessly flow through the media.
This is a roaring, restless world, yet one
That's curiously marked by stark silence,
And glaring omissions when it comes to
Matters of ultimate concern. It seems
Words are twisted beyond recognition;
Metaphors are crushed by the literal.
Spectacles of illusion and deceit:
Blazing lights embellish bloodless parades.
