Specteral Possibilities Poem by Sheri Green

Specteral Possibilities

I took a walk one long summer night
Under the moon so full and bright
Lost to the worries of the day
I soon realized my path had strayed

I searched beneath the stars divine
And yet the path, I could not find
so I scurried through the midnight blue
Begining to wonder what I should do

I walked beneath the sleepy pines
Trying to find some sort of sign
When I stumbled upon a woodland glade
And heard a voice say 'don't be afraid'

I quickly gathered my pressing fears
while into the darkness I hastily peered
and when you stepped from the shadows so true
I knew many were the dreams I'd had of you

You offered your hand so as not to offend
But already my fears were gone to the wind
Lovingly you took me into your arms
And I knew I would always be free from all harm

Forever our hearts have been entwined
It is love that binds your heart to mine
I will always be lost to your moonlit eyes
So I somberly heave a tearful sigh

There is nothing I would rather do
Than wake with you in the morning dew
But as night slowly gives way to the day
I knew in this world you could never stay

And if I had all the world and time
My world was yours, and yours was mine
And eternity were deep and wide
I would always have you here by my side
