Springtime In Ireland Poem by Mai Murphy Venn

Springtime In Ireland

1
Winter is nearly over, and spring is coming soon.
The blackbird in the garden is whistling a tune.
Little birds are assembling moss and twigs for nesting.
Hedgehog is awakening after his long winter resting.
Pritty petite primrose will bloom in the country ditch.
The timid bluebell in the breeze will gently nod and twitch.
2
The daffodil will bow her head as she dances in the wind.
Rebirth is all around as Mother Nature smiles in spring.
She will be there to help and nurture every living thing.
The farmer is quite busy preparing the land ready to sow.
Then he sets about fertilising the soil so the crops can grow.
The trees are beginning to bud and bloom as each day pass.
The lambs are playing in the fields, and the cows are eating grass.
3
It is a lovely time of year, to journey the Irish country scenes.
To see the landscape in broad daylight in various veils of green.
To ramble round the old bog roads that lead just anywhere.
Then go into the village pub, and what old stories you might hear.
That folklore we are famous for will come alive while you are there.
Our banshees and our fairy folk will surround you everywhere.
