Springtime's Scout Poem by Bryan Taplits

Springtime's Scout

A robin glided in the other day
And on a spindled branch it perched,
It parked as if this was no big deal-
A chesty portent of her times on Earth.
Her chin wig-wagged back and forth
Her colors blazed in close,
Like a lonely star sweeping across the sky:
A sentry at her post.
She seemed a promise of things to come
The whoop of a Supreme Being,
She came one day-
as I was looking another way-
This courier of Spring.
I think the robin who perched on this branch
Was naught but a prophetic sign,
A salutary signaling-
The end of Wintertime.
