'St David-Patron Saint Of Wales' Poem by ARTHUR COLE

'St David-Patron Saint Of Wales'

Rating: 5.0

To preach was his calling, his needs they were few,
a life oh so simple, , monastic settlements pursued.
Ascetisism he practiced, guidance from above,
'Do ye little things in life' a symbolic white dove.

He's our patron saint, from an age now long gone.
on the first day of March, his legacy lives on.
Bells peal on the breeze, on his saintly day,
congregations come together, and silently pray.

As the Alun flows tranquil, a reminder of the past,
his cathedral stands proud, beauty unsurpassed.
Whilst keeping the faith, his life never wallowed,
simplicity life's edict, monks they would follow.

Death would become him, on St David's Day,
angels adorning, that was Christ's way.
He now rests in peace, but will never be alone,
his immortal soul, will forever live on.
