Stale Eyes Poem by Lora Seger

Stale Eyes

Rating: 5.0

Stale eyes
Unmoved before my own
Do you not yearn as I?
Or is expression of passion, of hurt, a crime in your
Unmoved, staring eyes.

You show no love in return
Blank eyes
Perhaps I'm wrong to assume it's there?
That anything is present, stale eyes?

Human emotion,
Is what I seek.
Hate would be a better mistress
Than those...
Black, unblinking eyes

Why do mine always seek yours, though?
Those hard, unforgiving eyes
Maybe I'm seeking to define myself..
To prove myself human and caring by comparison..

Hard eyes.
Emotion seeking, in a hope-filled flight..
Maybe those hallow eyes are unintentionally unemotion, though..
And what I want evidence of..
Is the love I feel for you in return.
