Stand Tall Poem by Elaine KarasShadle

Stand Tall

It was a windy night in early October.
I stepped out with a caring friend to hear some poetry.
When I arrived home the call came with the bad news.

Some were okay, some were not.
My family were the lucky ones, blessed.
Only a split second to turn steel into an acordian.
Just a moment cause a life to become a flying 'rag doll'.

Could've lost, but I didn't.
Still my heart pounds with fear.
Am I strong enough to go on living alone?
Am I woman enough to stand tall?
