Star Poem by Poet Dreamer

Star

Oh glorious brilliance!
Fathomless your past and future
Overwhelmed am I by your days so vast
Overshadowing this spec of earth
Your ancient presence
Dazzling the heavens you were
Long before the dance of worlds

Life's seed
Impenetrable mystery for man
Your secret alone
Arising and passing of untold creatures
Built up and torn down
Many civilizations
Witnessed all you have
Outlasting you none

Beneath your splendor everlasting
I in comparison am what?
Alas! Perish I shall, whilst you endure
Long since past my life will be
Remote ages of a future distant
In this your destiny awaits

Oh great star!
Though a mere trifle I be
Escaped you a truth which I possess
Behold! In a faraway time
To all unbeknownst
Save God alone
Even you, pass over, death shall not
Yes! mortal as well, you are
