Staring Into The Green. Poem by Roger Cresswell

Staring Into The Green.

From here, the distance is endless, a universe in green eternity.
I gaze into the ocean of time between now and then, and I find you.
Forever just out of reach.

From here, in a field of green I travel in time to places where we were, happy and complete. Laughing, living, always coincident,
I blinked and lost you.

From here, time slips by, a numb fugue. Staring at a wall you painted deep green with a certainty I couldn't grasp, I sit, I wait.
Lost in helpless reverie.

I have no anticipation of reunion, that fragile comfort eludes me.
I hope only that when my light dies, I sink into that green, dreaming of you.
Maybe there,
we can be together.
