Statue Of Love Poem by Chris van Maanen

Statue Of Love

Rating: 5.0

This is the story of a guy who needs love
Love from a girl… to return his love…
His heart breaks every time… and finally,
When its build up again… it just breaks again
What use does it have to build up again if it breaks?
What’s the use to keep having fate,
If it already broke 7 times in 2 years?

the everlasting quest… yes, that’s how I should call it
He can’t just stop trying, even when it hurts
It’s just his mission, programmed before he was borne
Yes he got other things what makes him happy,
But there’s nothing what fills the dark spot
Every time there’s something that fills it in the heard,
It won’t hold on, and the statue, the heart, breaks again and falls down

And there it is again
The bricks and the ashes… and the rusty metal
The bricks just give him the desperate feelings
The flying ashes the hope that the statue won’t fall down
And the metal is just piercing every brick and takes down the ashes
It’s just giving a hopeless sight and if the city is looking nice,
But the statue is broken, it’s just an unpleasant sight

And than he is going to build it up again…
Trying to destroy the broken photo’s of the filling of the dark spot,
Hidden under the bricks, but still too easy to find.
He start the production of the metals and the bricks
And cleans the air of the ashes, what’s covering the sun
Luckily he gets help from his friends, and there’s hope again…
But not enough…. He is still looking for the right filling of the dark spot…

It’s the statue of love,
Hard to construct,
Hard to hold it standing
For this important mending

Hi Chris, This poem was written with compassion and sorrow. I can feel you have been through a lot and I know it is difficult. Love itself can be complicated. You write with great imagery and good form. Take care.
