Unknown Situation Poem by Chris van Maanen

Unknown Situation

Rating: 5.0

Unknown situation

Where am I?
What’s that fire?
Is it a car crash
I’m afraid, am I going to die?

My friends died,
I lost your stuff
And I am lost
Isn’t this enough?

Looking for answers
Looking for an explanation
While lying in a hospital bed
While people come for organ donation

I can get another heart,
One without scars
It’s blinding by the light
Perhaps the heart is the only thing that died

So what, if I made it up…
The car crash, and the whole situation
You only dreamed about it
But why I lay on the emergency station?

And there’s the doctor
With a little “you’ll be fine” token
He explains the situation…
My heart is broken

Hi Chris, Very different and unique poem. I really like how it was written, Great form and use of imagery was good. Excellent. Take care.
