Statuesque Poem by Fred Rik Kesner

Statuesque

'Statuesque'

She stands not in marble
but in morning light,
her face catching
that first quiet brightness
of the day.

sculptor away,
pedestal unformed,
mythic unveiling, unconceived.

Just the soft crack of corn
warming in a pot,
orchid opening
its blue-lavender edge,
air shifting
by a fraction.

Galatea was once
a symbol of longing.
Today she is simply
the person beside me,
doing the next thing
side by side.
