Stay Married Poem by Frank Adie

Stay Married

It was good once
It could be good again
Fall out of love
But stay in marriage
For better for worse
Is a sacred creed
That dooms the couple
To life ‘imprisonment'

The ship of marriage must always leak
It must not stop couples
From reaching their peak
Patch the hole and sail on
Victory is not a quitter's dish

Marriage outlive love
The initial motivation for "I do"
Sometimes die quite early
When glittering objects
Turn out not to be gold
Light the way ahead
With the illumination therefrom
Roses have very short life span
Hence marital beds are not made with them.
While you enjoy the marital flesh
Try to cope with the bone.
