Steve Poem by Jessica Goudreault

Steve

The news was hard to take
As I felt the tears role down my face
It was the honest truth
There was no mistake
Why did you put that poison in your vein?
You were stronger than that
You could have stayed, to leave a bigger impact
But you cannot come back
Your death was written in pen
No hope of a mistake, capable of being erased
You never said goodbye
You didn't leave a note
We wonder why you died
But no one exactly knows why
I'm sorry I wasn't there to see you layed to rest
It shall forever pain me with regret
I miss the practices that we used to have
Seeing you at your best, passing on what you knew
It's just not the same without you
It was more than just a sport, more than just my passion
Fitting in wasn't an option
I made friends and had a lot of fun
Without you, it would not have been
That school was a part of you
When it left, so did you
All that is left are the memories
They always come to me
Funny and stupid, serious and inspirational
Thank you for helping create them
I hope you liked them too
But you forever live on in our hearts
As your fans, your students, and your friends,
We all miss you, in the end.
