Still Morning Suggestions Poem by C Richard Miles

Still Morning Suggestions

This morning, underneath a pale-blue sky,
All life lies limp but thrills in expectation;
A windless stillness has marooned the hosts
Of threadbare branches, packed with pent potential.

As bud-burst seeks to stretch out to the sun,
A world-wait, world-wake silent sigh suffuses
With day-yawn May-dawn eyes that peep and peer
Through night-chill coolness in anticipation.

A hum of hushed expectancy hangs here,
A whispered welcome to the surging springtime
And we catch a snatch of tints that hint
Of welcome warmth that teases out trees' leaflets.

This dress-rehearsal for the summer's blare
Of blooms in panchromatic floral chorus
Is nature's tuning-up of songs to come
From Earth's own orchestra set out before us.
