Stoneheart Poem by Alex Lane

Stoneheart

How could you do this?
What evil harbours in you?
What did they do that made you throw you fist
and watch the chaos that ensued?

Tear a nation in half
to find the rotten bit underneath
to find a dark alleyway on every path
and an argument on every street
This is my life's work
to direct angers on love
I can't help but show you the peace in hurt
the best are never good enough

no-one can escape my will
the end you await to sabotage
the end I shall correlate in every kill
a storm generates with every charge

I drift into my own world
where each hope drives decision
there I forget why I carry on
but I know its nature in my mission
and I never have been sure
but I keep faith in my vision

break down the barricade
with my own two hands
I am my magic all betrayed
and left to stand
the monster within you is waking
your porcelain face is breaking
falling to sand

To those who concluded
my fate too soon
all your hopes remain deluded
on this new moon
while beauty unfolds to my soul
I must hand over control
and everything else that I stole
before anyone lets me part
with this stone heart

If all should go wrong
and our plans fail
let them write their songs
let them tell their tales.
