Storm Chaser Poem by Abigail Hauschild

Storm Chaser

Rating: 4.5

Her eyes swell like the ocean
Hurricanes swirl and waves crash inside her
Torrents overflow from those stormy grey eyes
But just like a summer storm
Her vulnerability will be fleeting
When morning comes she'll hide the tempest in her heart
Behind sun filled smiles and honey sweet words
She'll disguise her tears as waterfalls
Sparkling streams and promises of rainbows
No one remembers summer for destruction
Or the ocean for its darkest depths
They choose to look past the ugliness
That makes such great and terrible beauty possible
Summer is merely passionate
And the ocean is merely vast
So as her moods ebb and flow with the tide
They will say 'look how ethereal she is in her loveliness'
Her melancholia explained away as delicate beauty
