Strange Poem by Marilyn Shepperson

Strange

What must it be like to be a condor
Flying high above the Andes
With a three metre wing span
Or a wild horse galloping free
Across the wide open prairie
With four legs instead of two
A wolf on the hunt, a lynx in the mountains
Or a polar bear living always on the snow
And what would it be like to be the biggest fish in the sea
A shark, all teeth and muscle
Maybe a giant tortoise, with your home on your back
Living for two hundred years or more
Or a mole, spending your life underground
Maybe a butterfly, starting life as a caterpillar
Perhaps one of the predators prey
With eyes on the side of your head
Or a crab walking forever sideways
Your eyes on a stalk, at the bottom of the sea
Animals lives must seem quite strange
But I wonder if they were to stop and think
How strange we would seem to them.
