Strength And Emotions Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Strength And Emotions

Aloft he stood the night
Before
He had drunk wine
And wine
But sleeping
Just an hour now
At Dawn he rose
And giant stood
As great Prometheus.

His muscled hand by
Muscled thighs and
Legs were matched
Arose he and
As he was
Walked the Earth
As an affrighted
Animal
Under his feet and
Weight
It trembled.

Before him mowed
Bush and small trees
And when greater
Trees stood in
His away
His heavy arms
Bent them
As he willed:

Strength was his emotion
And his joy:
To view obstacles
Melt
Before him
Was his glee:
He had no other
Joy
But joy to overcome
And
Make
That
Went
Before
Him
His
Full
Slave
And
Will.

In him showed strength
Bare strength of
Steel and iron
But
Then this mowed down
His emotions
Or occupying everything
In him
Made
Him
Have
No
Place
For
The
Emotions
Strong
Was he
But
In
Emotions
And
In
Cunning
Low:
That
Was
The
Making.

You see he needed not
Emotions but this
For strength
And
Only
Strength.

But be strength,
Bare strength
Without emotions?
The puny and less
Strong
That cunning have
Are stronger in
The whole.

That's how and why we must
Balance
Of All in One and One
In All
My Monsignor,take heed!
