Study Of Barbara - Poem by Donal Mahoney

In the easy heave
and lazy reclination
of their cashmere lake,

Barbara's buoy. Yet
despite the talc
daubed on at dawn,

beneath both eyes by noon
the scar of night
burns Barbara through.
