Subjective Mirror Poem by Daniel Fivelsdal Wetaas

Subjective Mirror

You and a mirror
What do you see?
A nose too defined
Or a zit running free

Five kilos from last year
When Christmas kicked in
Or maybe too few
It that always a sin?

A penis too small
Or breasts insufficient
Too little hair
Or its growth too efficient

Too short or too tall
As if you choose your height
But why let it define you
Does that truly feel right?

No muscles like Arnold
No buttocks like Kim
But why does it matter?
Is that how you win?

You and a mirror
What do you see?
Another sees good things
Yet you see debris
Can you look in the mirror?
Can you really see through
All your personal bias
Are you looking at you?
